KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The University of Tennessee is joining forces with a company that offers online courses to expand the reach of their classes.

UT and Coursera will begin offering several online courses as part of an 18-month pilot program to test the company's technology before potentially expanding it further at the school.

Two courses will be taught at UT. Another two will be taught at other schools within the state university system.

In addition to UT, ten other university systems across the U.S. are partnering with Coursera.

The first classes could be taught at UT as early as the fall semester.
