Morristown manufacturer to add 200 jobs

MORRISTOWN (WATE) - Two hundred new jobs will be opening up in Morristown as a local manufacturer expands their facility.

Gov. Bill Haslam announced Thursday the expansion of Team Technologies, Inc.

"It's very positive for our community," said Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce president Marshall Ramsey. "We are still hovering above 8% unemployment, so any jobs we get are definitely bonus for our community."

The opening jobs are positions that are moving back from China.

"We are excited about it simply because those were jobs that were going overseas, so we are bringing some of those manufacturing jobs back to our city," said Morristown Mayor Danny Thomas.

"We are really excited to have products made in America, and made in Morristown," added Ramsey.

City officials say it's a harbinger of things to come for the area.

"We see some exciting times ahead," said Ramsey. "We are very hopeful. We are having some positive comments from our existing industry and we hope to have some more announcements soon."

Team Technologies contracts with other businesses to make custom dental, medical, cosmetic and industrial products like bottles, caps and make up brushes.

They will invest $11 million to create 200 new positions.
