SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - A Sevier County woman accused of trying to set her child on fire in 2010 rejected a plea deal in court Thursday.

Becky Eury is facing multiple charges stemming from the incident including aggravated child abuse and reckless endangerment.

Her trial has now been set for July 25.

Investigators say Eury strapped her baby, who was five weeks old at the time, into a carseat on Mother's Day weekend and then set it on fire.

Emergency crews responded and found the child unharmed.

On Thursday, Eury's ex-husband said he supported the district attorney's decision to offer her a plea, because part of it would have required her to give up parental rights of their children.

"I was kind of glad, because it would have at least got her out of our lives forever. If she would had violated that they would have put her back in prison. It's going to be worse on her, which I don't mind. I think she ought to get as much as she can out of this, because what she did was wrong," Ivan Eury said.

The couple's children are now three and six years old.

Eury has been in jail since her arrest three years ago.

Not all of the details of the plea deal were released on Thursday.
