Man's body pulled from Laurel River


LONDON, Ky. (AP) - Deputies have recovered the body of a southern Kentucky man from Laurel River.

A statement from Laurel County Sheriff John Root says witnesses told investigators that 59-year-old Billy Barton of Corbin appeared to jump off the Kentucky 770 bridge in Laurel County.

The statement said Barton's body was recovered Thursday afternoon shortly after he went into the water.

The sheriff's office is conducting a death investigation.
