Rockwood police chief to step down


ROCKWOOD (WATE) - The chief of police in Rockwood is stepping down for personal reasons.

Chief Bill Stinnett decided to take a demotion down to captain in order to spend more time with his family, Rockwood Mayor James Watts said.

The change will be effective July 1.

Mayor Watts is recommending school board member Danny Wright to take his place. Wright is also a member of the Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition.

The city council will make a decision as part of the budget approval process.
