KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police are looking for the suspects who robbed a North Knoxville bank Friday morning.

The incident happened at the SunTrust Bank at 2075 North Broadway around 9:35 a.m.

Two men armed with handguns entered the bank and demanded money.

Several customers and employees were inside the bank at the time, but no one was injured.

The men fled the scene in a Ford Ranger pickup truck, but did not take any money.

Police said the truck was stolen earlier Friday around 12:19 a.m. at gunpoint from a woman at her apartment complex on Pleasant Ridge Road.

The 20-year-old woman, who did not want to be identified, said she first saw the men in a white SUV sitting behind her at a red light. They followed her into her apartment complex.

She said she tried to get inside her building, but the men caught up to her before she reached the door.

They stole her purse and keys and told her to run away. She hid in some nearby bushes and watched as one man drove her truck away. The other man left in the white SUV.

Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk said the men knew what they were doing.

"Obviously they were planning out the robbery and they knew they wanted another vehicle," he said.

Her stolen truck was found a short time after the robbery in an alley behind Chicago Avenue. The suspects got into another vehicle to flee the area.

Paul Robbins lives near the alley where the suspects dumped the truck and saw at least one of the men jump into a waiting vehicle.

"I saw him and he was taking his shirt off and he had an orange shirt on," Robbins said.

Robbins said one of the men jumped in the car with a female driver and sped off.

"I thought they broke into a house or something down there," he said. "I thought it was kind of odd they were going so fast."

The suspects are described as two black males, one taller than the other, both wearing orange construction vests.

The taller man also had a gold tooth and a black t-shirt.

Police also looking for the woman the men drove away with as a potential third suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Knoxville police or the FBI.
