KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man is facing assault charges after he allegedly charged at Knoxville Police Department officers.

According to KPD, Rhudy Claiborne, 43, assaulted his girlfriend before grabbing a knife and cutting his own throat.

Claiborne was transported to UT Medical Center and released shortly afterwards.

He will be charged with domestic assault, violation of an order of protection, and two assault charges against the officers on scene.
