KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two people were injured late Sunday night in a drive-by shooting in South Knoxville. A single-vehicle car crash was also reported in the same area, causing some confusion for police and residents.

Officers say two men were shot at the intersection of Joe Lewis Road and Maryville Pike around 10:10 p.m. Several rounds were fired from a white or silver four-door sedan. The sedan was last seen turning onto Maryville Pike.

Both victims of the shooting were taken to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. They were unable to give officers a suspect description.

At the same time of the shooting, a vehicle crashed into a pole on Joe Lewis Road at Cook Drive. The crash caused a power outage in the immediate area.

Authorities say the accident was not related to the shooting.

About the same time, 911 dispatchers received a second shooting call from a nearby apartment.

Police say a male juvenile was looking out the window and heard the shooting. He ducked his head, striking his mouth on the window sill.

Family members feared he had been shot as well, but that turned out not to be the case.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
