Independent trucker files class-action suit against Pilot in Middle Tenn.

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Nebraska man has filed a class-action lawsuit against Knoxville-based Pilot Flying J as part of a recent scandal over withheld rebate payments to diesel fuel customers.

Attorneys for Paul Otto, who is an independent truck owner and operator for Morehouse Truck Line, filed suit Friday in Middle Tennessee District Court.

Morehouse Truck Line was named in the FBI affidavit as one of the companies that may have been shortchanged as part of a diesel fuel rebate scandal.

A representative for Morehouse said the company had been repaid by Pilot after it was discovered that the company had lost more than $140,000.

Curt Morehouse, the office manager for the company, said he was "happy with the outcome" and considered Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam to be a "stand up guy."
