OAK RIDGE (WATE) - Newly appointed U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz was in East Tennessee Monday, continuing his tour of all the Department of Energy facilities in Oak Ridge.

Moniz got a look at the Spallation Neutron Source along with Congressman Chuck Fleischmann, with ORNL Director Thom Mason pointing out the sights.

Monday afternoon, he was scheduled for a tour of Y-12 National Security Complex, the national nuclear security facility where peace protestors broke in last summer.

Moniz says he's working with the Obama administration and Congress on possible organizational changes to improve not just safety and security, but the overall performance of the department.
