Butch Jones pep rally to be held Friday ahead of Nick Saban event

CLEVELAND (WATE) - A pep rally for University of Tennessee head football coach Butch Jones is being held in response to a University of Alabama coach Nick Saban event planned in Athens.

In February, the Athens Chamber of Commerce invited Saban to speak at the group's annual dinner in June.

A billboard went up in Athens to promote the event and caused quite a stir in the community.

The Saban event didn't sit well with many in Vol Nation, prompting the Cleveland Rotary Club and Tennessee Sports Radio to organize a rally.
It's being held Friday at the Performing Arts Center of Bradley Central High School.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event gets underway at 7 p.m..

Tickets are still available for $25 each.

You can purchase one online on the Cleveland Rotary Club website.
