Lumberjack competition swings into Pigeon Forge


PIGEON FORGE (WATE) - Lumberjacks and sawyers are heading to Pigeon Forge for the start of The Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud.

20 lumberjacks will compete in the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Professional U.S. Championship.

Competitors will be tested in several different styles of woodcutting, including the "hot saw" and the "underhand chop".

The event begins Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m. with the final U.S. Championship round beginning at noon on Saturday.

Collegiate events will be held beginning at noon on Sunday.

The winner of Saturday's event will advance to the World Championship in Stuttgart, Germany in October.
