SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - Mountain National Bank was closed Friday by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

In order to protect the bank's depositors, the FDIC entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with First Tennessee Bank to take over all deposits from Mountain National Bank.

According to the FDIC, all 12 branches of Mountain National will reopen as First Tennessee locations. All depositors of Mountain National will automatically become members of First Tennessee.

The FDIC says that all customers of Mountain National should continue to use their current branch until receiving notice from First Tennessee that systems conversions have been completed and full service banking is available at the latter bank.

Depositors can continue to access their money through checks or debit cards throughout the weekend. Loan customers should continue to make their payments as per usual.

Customers with questions about today's transaction should call the FDIC toll-free at 1-800-356-1848.
