KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a house fire on Sunday afternoon.

The Knoxville Fire Department responded to calls of a bedroom fire at 2533 Adair Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a man with a severe cut on his arm, streaming water from a water hose into the bedroom through a broken window.

The other occupants of the home, the man's wife and three children, were all safely outside of the home.

The man was transported to the hospital for the cut received while breaking out glass from the window.

Once the home was deemed safe, a resident was allowed back inside the home to retrieve "three large snakes".

The American Red Cross has been contacted to assist the family in their needs at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
