Man taken to hospital after near-drowning

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A young man, between 21 and 22 years old, was taken to the hospital Saturday night after he almost drowned in a pool, according to a Knoxville Fire Department official.

Dispatchers received a report of a possible drowning at Crossroads West Apartments on Brent Way Circle at 8:46 p.m.

The man had been pulled from the pool by the time police arrived.  He was unresponsive and a police officer began CPR.

D.J. Corcoran, a spokesperson for the Knoxville Fire Department, says the man left the scene with a pulse and an ambulance took him to UT Medical Center.

The man's condition has not been released.
