Knoxville police officer revives man who nearly drowned

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – It appears quick thinking by a Knoxville police officer may have saved the life of a West Knoxville man Saturday night.

Ansumana Fofana, 22, was found floating in the pool at Crossroads West Apartments on Brent Way Circle.

When Fofana was pulled from the pool he did not have a pulse.

Officer Sharon Terrell was first to arrive and began to perform CPR. Within moments she was able to help him regain a pulse.

Fofana was later taken to UT Medical Center where he is now listed in stable condition.

Witnesses say Fofana was swimming laps when he appeared distressed and went under.

According the City of Knoxville website, Terrell has been with the police department since 1996.
