KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A federal grand jury indicted two people on Tuesday on charges of transporting illegal immigrants.

Mario Garcia-Duarte, 22, of Mexico, and Guadalupe Orellana-Morel, 20, of Honduras were stopped last Tuesday in Knox County by a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper.

The trooper found 14 other passengers in the car with no luggage, according to the Department of Justice.

After a background check on the car, Federal Homeland Security Investigations agents were called to the scene and they completed the investigation.

Garcia-Duarte and Orellana-Morel are still in custody and will appear in U.S. District Court later this week.
