According to Newport Police Chief Maurice Shults, who is not related to the suspect, Henry Shults spoke with the victim after her boyfriend was arrested.

The man allegedly told the woman he would try to keep her out of jail, but that he needed to search her.

He performed the search of the woman while she was clothed.
