JACKSBORO (WATE) - Campbell County schools are soaking up the sun with solar panels.

It's all part of the school's contract with TVA, which allows the school to place a 50 kW solar system on the roofs atop of the county's schools.

A total of twelve schools are currently using solar power.

"Hopefully there'll be some interest by the students and they can go on and maybe get in a career with renewable energy, but it's good for the environment, good for the public and good for the school system," said Robert Thomas, the president of Efficient Energy of Tennessee.

The 20-year contract is expected to help the schools go green and save money in the long run.

The final panels were installed this week.
