Campbell County Sheriff cracks down on worst child support offenders

JACKSBORO (WATE) - Parents who have shirked their financial responsibilities in Campbell County were the target of an operation by local sheriff's deputies.

Dubbed "Operation Parental Guidance," the operation targeted the 35 men and women who had the most egregious records for unpaid child support.

Altogether, the group owes $400,000 in overdue child support.

Deputies began arresting the individuals on Monday night and continued Tuesday.

Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins released this statement about the roundup:

"We believe, every parent should uphold their ultimately responsibility in that of being a parent. Today is a small step forward in the effort we are committed to providing on a regular basis. Children deserve our full attention in every aspect and we intend to make every extra effort to move the process along so long as it does not hinder the life progression of any child. When it affects children negatively it affects all of us negatively and we will not tolerate it. We are beholden by our oaths of office to make certain of that."
