KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knox County deputy shot during a standoff last week is continuing to recover from his injuries.

Sgt. Mike Ledbetter was on the scene of that standoff on Thursday when he was shot in the leg, damaging a major artery.

The suspect, 21-year-old Jordan Camp, was killed.

Sgt. Ledbetter underwent a medical procedure Monday and was moved out of the ICU at UT Medical Center.

As of Tuesday morning, he was in stable condition.

Investigators say last week's standoff stemmed from a routine traffic stop.

Camp ran from deputies and ended up in a mobile home park, where a shootout ensued.

Dozens of rounds were fired, but it's unknown who fired the shot that injured Sgt. Ledbetter and killed the suspect.

Knox County Sheriff J.J. Jones issued a statement Tuesday saying, "The Ledbetter family wishes to thank the community for their prayers and support. At this time they are respectfully declining any invitations to speak with the media and ask for understanding as they concentrate their energies on Mike's recovery."

Sgt. Ledbetter is scheduled for another medical procedure Thursday.

The investigation into the standoff is continuing.
