A driver ran a red light Wednesday morning in south Nashville, striking a Metro police cruiser.
The incident happened at 8 a.m. at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Thompson Lane.
Police on the scene said the officer was traveling outbound on Murfreesboro Pike when he was hit by a male driver who ran the red light at Thompson Lane.
At first the officer refused treatment but was later transported to a local hospital to be examined.
A News 2 photographer on the scene said he was "limping around."
The driver of the other car was not injured.
The intersection was partially blocked. It has since reopened.
