Lenoir City's Claire Donahue makes World Championships


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Lenoir City's Claire Donahue won gold at the London Olympics in 2012, now she has a chance for gold at the World Swimming Championships.

Donahue finished second in the 100 meter butterfly on Thursday at the U.S. Swimming National Championships in Indianapolis.

Donahue's time was 58.32 seconds.

World record holder Dana Vollmer finished first in 57.53 seconds.  

Donahue tweeted this message after her event: Second place!!!!!! I get to go to Barcelona for Worlds!!!! Barcelona Barcelona Barcelona!!!! Wahoooo!

The world championships will take place later this year in Barcelona, Spain.
