NEWPORT (WATE) - Cocke County deputies say a Newport woman ran over a man on Wednesday with her minivan and it was all over a loan dispute.

According to an incident report, Earl Williams, 42, and Rebecca Strong, 40, had been fighting all day after he came to her house with beer.

Strong had lent Williams money and demanded some of it back upon seeing the alcohol, saying she needed it to buy food for her children.

Williams refused and, according to witnesses, Strong ran over him with her van and drove off.

Rebecca Strong is charged with driving with a revoked license, vehicular assault, and leaving the scene of the accident.

Williams suffered serious injuries.
