NEW TAZEWELL (WATE) - A former employee of Claiborne County Schools is facing sex charges involving a 13-year-old boy.

Officials with the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department say 43-year-old Michelle Cox was arrested on charges of aggravated statutory rape on June 24.

Cox had been charged earlier this month on 2 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Authorities say Cox bought alcohol for two minors, one of which is the same minor involved in the statutory rape charge.

Cox was previously employed at the county's Board of Education office in nutrition.

Authorities say she did not work in any actual schools and is no longer employed by the school board.

Cox was released on a $100,000 secured bond the same day of her arrest.

Cox is set to appear in court on July 17.
