CLINTON (WATE) - Five men are in custody after Anderson County deputies stopped them while smuggling drugs into the county.
The men arrested are Trezell Groce, 21, Charjuan Hayes, 22, Charles Hayes, 32, Cedric Isom, 20, and Orentheo Winton, 31. All men are from Knoxville.
The group was arrested Tuesday morning after three cars were stopped on Clinton Highway in Anderson County.
The arrests were the result of an investigation into the receipt, transport and distribution of marijuana in the Claxton community.
During the stop, deputies found eight pounds of marijuana and $23,000 in cash. Those items, along with the three vehicles, were seized.
All five men were charged with manufacture, delivery, sale and possession of a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy.
Winton was also charged with possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and a felon in possession of a handgun.
All five are being held without bond at the Anderson County Detention Facility.
Groce has prior drug arrests in Knox and Washington counties.
Charles Hayes has prior arrests for various offenses in Knox County and is on stateprobation as a convicted felon for a cocaine possession for resale charge.
Winton also has several arrests in Knox County including drug charges and is a convicted felonfor a cocaine possession for resale charge.
