KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A suspect was arrested Wednesday night a few hours after a man was discovered shot to death at a Knoxville apartment complex.

Officers say they discovered Dasean Lowe, 18, shot to death just before 8:00 p.m. at Arbor Place Apartments on South Hall of Fame Drive.

Jabari Reynolds, 19, of Chattanooga, was arrested at nearby Vista Apartments on Hill Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

Reynolds faces homicide and weapons charges. He also has outstanding warrants for robbery in Hamilton County.

Lowe's friends and family say he was a funny, sweet and caring young man. They say unfortunately violence is all too common at the Arbor Place Apartments and this shooting was a senseless crime.

Erica Edwards grew up with Dasean Lowe. They were neighbors and close friends since they were in the third grade. She can't believe he's gone.

"I couldn't go to sleep. I didn't go to sleep until 8:00 this morning. It just kept running through my mind and me getting on my phone, on Facebook. He's all on the newsfeed, he's all on Instagram. 'RIP Sean, gone but never forgotten,'" said Edwards.

The shooting of her best friend has left Edwards on edge, but especially because on the Fourth of July the sound of fireworks is too much like gunfire.

"Yes, I don't even want to hear them anymore because it's too much popping. It's too much going on," said Edwards.

Police say Lowe was shot more than once. After learning a shooting occurred Edwards ran to the scene.

"I heard about it so I ran down bottom and everybody said it was Sean, so I couldn't go too close. I just broke down and cried," said Edwards.

Police say Reynolds had been visiting Knoxville for a brief period of time. He is wanted by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department for five counts of robbery.

Reynolds is now been charged with first degree murder. Police say the two knew each other.

Edwards says she has no idea what the motive could have been.

"He didn't do anything to cause somebody to shoot him in the head. You know, I just don't understand," said Edwards.

Edwards is glad an arrest was made and hopes justice will be served. She says her good friend will never be forgotten.

"He will always be remembered. I don't know how to say it but he will always be remembered," said Lowe.

Reynolds is being held in the Knox County Jail. He will be in court on July 17 for a preliminary hearing.
