KNOXVILLE (WATE) - When you add up five critical health violations as well as 18 other food safety issues, you get one of the lowest inspection grades of the year.

Lowest Score:

Bombay Palace Indian Cuisine, 10901 Parkside Drive - Grade: 52

The inspector writes he found the back door to the restaurant propped open, which gives bugs and other critters the opportunity to come inside.

The inspector says there was an infestation of fruit flies in the kitchen.

Upon checking food temperatures, custard was at 51 degrees and dressing at 76 degrees.

Both custard and dressing are meant to be stored at temperatures of 41 degrees and below. Both foods were ordered thrown out.

Spoiled lemon wedges were also found, as well as dirty bags of spices on food shelves.

Trash was also found on one of those shelves next to food.

A hand sink was also blocked, so no one could wash their hands there as required.

An employee also forgot to wash his hands after handling dirty utensils.

The inspector also found dirty knives being used to cut food.

The health inspector also noted some high grades this week, reflecting terrific cooperation by kitchen staff and excellent training by management.
