MAYNARDVILLE (WATE) - Union County sheriff's investigators and the owner of a Norris Lake restaurant are seeking help finding the young men who stole several bottles of liquor Friday during an early morning break-in.

Authorities were first alerted to the break-in just after midnight when an alarm went off at Bubba's Brew, 170 Beach Island Road.

When sheriff's deputies arrived shortly after receiving the call they were told by witnesses that three men were seen running from the bar and boarding a bright red and tan Tahoe pontoon boat with a red top.

Surveillance video cameras captured images of the three entering the restaurant and taking liquor.

"If you ask me, it looks like they just came in off the lake, wanting to have a party," said Bubba Bass, owner of Bubba's Brew. "From the age group it looked like on camera probably 18-20, so they probably thought the easiest thing to do was to break into a bar on the lake and escape on a boat."

Before the booze bandits got all they came for, one of the men made a quick pit stop in the ladies toilet.

When an alarm sounded the burglars took off. People nearby saw what was going on and chased after them.

"We have several people who live over here who did try to cut them off on the boat, but the boat outran them," Bass said.

A Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer aided in a search of the lake and nearby boat ramps, but the suspects were not located.

The Union County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone recognizing the suspects or knowing about the burglary to call (865) 992-5212 or the sheriff's Hotline at (865) 992-2019.

The owner of  Bubba's Brew is offering a $300 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects.
