KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Seven Red Cross volunteers left East Tennessee Friday to aid in the deadly Arizona wildfires.

The Yarnell wildfire is now 80 percent contained, but the damage is already done. Nineteen firefighters were killed Sunday, and thousands of acres were burned. More than a hundred structures were destroyed by the fire.

Cleanup work is expected to be extensive.

Volunteers have been pouring in from all over the country to help, East Tennessee included. Among them is Red Cross volunteer Peter Keyes and first-time volunteer Bonnie Weaver.

"I'm a volunteer firefighter and I love to help people," said Weaver.

That's what lead Weaver to volunteer. Her first assignment will take her to Prescott, Ariz. where the 19 firefighters were killed.

"Hopefully I can help whoever needs help, because that's what I do best," said Weaver.

Keyes has been deployed on four natural disasters already this year, including fires.

"It's scary," said Keyes. "Many of [the victims] are confused and shocked and we're just there to help them and comfort them and give them direction."

Weaver says she will likely be looking to Keyes for that same direction once they get on the ground in Arizona.

"She'll probably be helping me more than she knows," said Keyes.

The volunteers will be in Arizona for at least two weeks, but could be there longer if the fire gets any worse.
