Girl, 9, ejected in Chattanooga crash, dies

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -

A nine-year-old girl has died following a crash early Friday morning on Interstate 24 in Chattanooga.

According to News Channel 9 in Chattanooga, the SUV the girl and her family were traveling in flipped and she was ejected.  She died at the hospital.

Her parents and two siblings were last listed in stable condition at a local hospital. 

The wreck occurred around 4:20 a.m. near the U.S. 27 split.  The SUV came to rest on its roof.

Chattanooga TV station WRCB reported on its Web site the family is from the Nashville area.

I-24 East was shut down for nearly five hours while crews worked the scene.

The interstate has since reopened.
