Informational meeting scheduled for planned Knox blueway

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, to present information about giving a blueway designation to a Knox County creek.

Under the plan, Beaver Creek would be named a blueway to help curtail flooding issues. The designation could also increase recreational opportunities on the public waterway.

Flooding issues could be managed better with regular use and maintenance of areas prone to debris jams.

Beaver Creek begins and ends within Knox County.

Knox County officials we be available for a public informational meeting at Karns Community Center, 7708 Oak Ridge Highway. The meeting is scheduled to take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Maps and other information can be viewed during the meeting, and officials will answer questions about the proposal.
