HARRIMAN (WATE) – With the rain not letting up, residents of one Roane County neighborhood are complaining about an ongoing flooding problem.

It's the people living on Noland Lane and Keylon Drive by Way Creek. Roane County already saw one bout of heavy rain this week and there's more headed their way.

"When it rains, it floods my whole front yard," said Eugene Noland, as he showed us how his entire yard, all the way to his porch, is filled with water.

It happened as recently as Wednesday, although the water has since receded.

"There's free flowing water all across here. It's a foot to 18 inches deep," he added.

Over time the water has caused a whole host of problems, like electrical issues. He's also lost a storage building to the water.

"This is an ongoing issue. Every time we get heavy rain, it does this," said Lisa Martin, Noland's niece.

Martin says a few of her family members live in the flood zone. They have sought help to keep it from overflowing.

"The family has contacted senators, the highway department, and the county commission. Everyone says they'll come out and do something, but nothing's done," she said.

So with another bout of rain expected, they brace themselves for another flooding episode.

"It's not getting any better. What it needs is some extra repair work done on it," Noland said. He believes one solution may be to dig the creek a little deeper.

6 News contacted the highway department to see what they had to say about the issue.

But we were not able to reach anyone because of the holiday.
