SEYMOUR (WATE) – Sevier County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Seymour woman Friday night on first degree murder charges.

Deputies arrested Bilinda Gregory after a more than six month investigation, which started when a man called 911 on January 30 and said he had been shot.

When officers arrived to a home at 1449 Estates Drive in Seymour, they found Donald Gregory, 64, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

At the same time, Bilinda Gregory walked into the sheriff's office with two handguns and said she shot her husband in self-defense, according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Department.

The Sevier County Sheriff's Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began an investigation.

Officials say an unidentified person provided addition information on Friday that led to the arrest.

Neighbors say the couple kept a low profile and had only lived in the home for around a year.

"You never would have thought it would ever happen here," neighbor Dike McCoy said. "We always got to be prepared for anything in America now. It's come to that point where we're not safe for anything anymore."

Gregory was booked into the Sevier County Jail. She'll stay there until a bond hearing in General Sessions Court.
