27 arrested for DUI over holiday weekend; no deaths reported

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to dozens of wrecks over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, but no fatalities were reported.

Twenty-seven people were arrested from drunk driving.

Of the 15 wrecks with injuries the sheriff's office responded to, five involved alcohol.

There were also 55 wrecks that did not result in an injury, of which three involved alcohol.

Deputies handed out 492 citations for traffic offenses and arrested a total of 141 people.

Deputies also assisted 250 motorists.

The sheriff's office compiled data between Wednesday, July 3 at 6 p.m. and Monday July 8 at 6 a.m.
