KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Former Tennessee assistant basketball coach Steve Forbes has been hired by Wichita State, according to CBSSports.com.
Forbes, then-head coach Bruce Pearl and assistant coaches Tony Jones and Jason Shay were all fired by Tennessee in 2011 after an NCAA investigation charged Pearl with lying to investigators about a recruiting issue.
Forbes is the first of the former Pearl coaching staff to be hired at a Division I program after serving an NCAA imposed show-cause order.
Pearl still has a year remaining on his show-cause.
Forbes has spent the past two seasons coaching at a junior college in Florida.
