Roane Co. commissioners vote against raising property taxes

KINGSTON (WATE) - Roane County commissioners voted Monday night to not raise property taxes.

A 14-cent tax was proposed. It was intended to make up for a $1.5 million school budget shortfall.

School officials said in the past without the increase they would have no choice but to make some painful cuts.

Commissioners passed budgets for the schools and county.
