KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knox County officials met Tuesday night with people who live near Beaver Creek.

The county is planning a new blueway, which would run from the new Harrell Road Park to the Northwest Sports Park in Karns.

Knox County plans to clean up debris in Beaver Creek, which should help prevent flooding.

Heath Haun, a county construction inspection supervisor, says the blueway will make it easier to canoe and have fun in the water.

"Anybody that's out on a Saturday or Sunday and wants to have a relaxing paddle, Beaver Creek is quite scenic and you're right in the middle of Karns, but you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere," said Haun.

The county says there will be six miles of blueway when the project is complete.
