Early morning outages leave thousands of customers without power

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two separate outages at Knoxville substations left thousands of people temporarily without power this week.

The first outage happened Monday morning between 2:15 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. Then, on Wednesday morning, power went out again between 4:45 a.m. and 5:45 a.m.

All power has since been restored.

The outages were a result of a transformer control cable failure at the Solway substation of Lenoir City Utilities Board.

LCUB dispatchers said the company was replacing the bad cable to prevent further outages.

About 5,000 people in the Hardin Valley and Oak Ridge Highway area were affected by the outages.
