KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A familiar building in the Old City may soon be torn down.

A developer has applied to demolish the former home of Lucille's and Back Room BBQ on Central Avenue.

Developer Randy Boyd filed an application for demolition with the Downtown Design Review Board to tear down the one-story building.

Plans also call to renovate an adjacent two-story structure as well as the corner building that once housed Patrick Sullivan's.

In the application, the architect for the project, Scott Falvey of Design Innovation Architects, said the building had been significantly altered since it was built, had significant rot and deterioration and was not a "marketable space."

The Downtown Design Review Board is scheduled to vote on the request next Wednesday.
