Mother still in hospital after being hit by falling tree in Smokies

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Kentucky woman remained in the hospital Thursday after she was struck by a falling tree in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Michelle Tilley, 41, of Shelby Gap, Ky. was touring the ground of the historic Missionary Baptist Church in Cades Cove when a tree fell on her.

At the time, she was holding her 14-month-old daughter.

Tilley's seven-year-old nephew, of Thorton, Ky., was also injured.

The three were taken via ambulance to University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Tilley's daughter and nephew were treated and released.

Tilley remained in the hospital Thursday in serious condition.
