BLOUNT COUNTY (WATE) - A swimmer is in the hospital after nearly drowning in a Blount County river Thursday evening.
Blount County rescue crews pulled the swimmer from the water at Perry's Mill on U .S. Highway 321 around 7:30 p.m.
According to a TWRA agent, a 25-year-old man was attempting to perform a dive into the Little Pigeon River when he was trapped by the water's undertow for some time.
The man was taken to Blount County Memorial Hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.
