Campbell County Sheriff collects donations for kids ahead of school year

JACKSBORO (WATE) - The Campbell County Sheriff's Office is doing its part to make sure area kids have the supplies they need ahead of the school year.

Officials are taking donations for the Third Annual Back to School Bash and Fill the Van events.

The Fill the Van event takes place Friday, July 19 and July 26 at the Jacksboro Walmart between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.

The Back to School Bash takes place August 3 at LaFollette Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"As public servants, it is our responsibility to attempt to help each other, as well as, our community," said Sheriff Robbie Goins via Facebook. "We are hoping to help those children and parents who may not be able to afford all the school supplies they need to start school properly.

The sheriff's office is collecting school supplies and cash donations and is also asking for help from volunteers to staff the events.

Donations can be dropped off at the Campbell County Sheriff's Office at 610 Main Street in Jacksboro or at the Fill the Van events.
