Error in Jellico budget remains after quorum not reached

Error in Jellico budget remains after quorum not reached in meeting

JELLICO (WATE) - An error in Jellico's city budget remains as there were not enough council members present at a Friday meeting to correct the issue.

The town passed the city budget only to realize that a tax levy of $1.15 was accidentally erased from the budget.

That leaves the town with no tax levy.

Mayor Les Stiers called a special meeting on Monday evening to fix the mistake, but there was not a quorum.

Another meeting was scheduled Friday evening, but also failed to have a quorum.

Officials say the matter will be voted on at the next regularly scheduled council meeting on July 18.
