One dead, two in critical condition after Crossville apartment fire


CROSSVILLE (WATE) - A Crossville woman has died from injuries sustained in an apartment fire on Wednesday.

Crossville Fire Department officials say that the woman died Friday at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Two others remain in critical condition at the hospital.

Authorities say the fire started at a Dunbar Avenue apartment after the wiring in the unit's refrigerator caught fire.

Firefighters found the three adults unresponsive in the apartment bedroom.

The fire department was on the scene of the accident within 2 minutes, the fire was contained within 8 minutes.

The apartment contained no working smoke detectors.
