Speedwell man killed in wreck; charges pending


HARROGATE (WATE) - One person was killed and several others injured after two cars collided in Claiborne County.

The accident happened on Monday around 3:35 p.m. in Harrogate, near the intersection of Londonderry Road and Old Jacksboro Pike.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, James Capps, 29, of Cumberland Gap, was driving a Lincoln sedan west on Londonderry Road, when he overturned on a curve, crossing the center line.

He collided head-on with a Honda Accord driven by Patsy Nelson, 54, of Speedwell.

Nelson's passenger, Mark Nelson, 54, was killed.

Patsy Nelson, Capps, and his passenger, Curtis Mills, 29, were all injured.

According to the THP report, Capps and Mills were both drinking and using drugs.

Charges are pending the results of the investigation.
