LAFOLLETTE (WATE) –  A school bus driver in Campbell County arrested for felony drug possession is out on bond Tuesday.

Melissa Poston, 41, was arrested over the weekend along with Chris Crabtree, 35, at their home on South 15th Street.

It's a home that's been on the Campbell County Sheriff's Department radar for some time.

"Through that investigation we were able to not only determine the people were using it but were selling it," said Capt. Brandon Elkins.

It's a quiet street but officers say there were numerous complaints from neighbors about heavy traffic led investigators to the home of Poston and Crabtree

"Through investigation and consent search of the residence, we found a large amount of marijuana, probably close to a pound there. As well as weighing devices and paraphernalia for use such as pipes," explained Capt. Elkins.

They also found more than $1,300 in the home.

It was one of the larger busts the county has seen in a while.

"We're not talking about a baggie of marijuana or a joint. We're talking about a large amount that's for resale," he said.

Poston is a school bus driver, causing a concern in the investigation.

"We know it doesn't just involve a person, but it possibly involves children," Capt. Elkins said.

But investigators did not find any connection with Poston's school bus.

"We don't have any indication in this case that there was any involvement with the school system or connection back to the school bus," he said.

6 News reached out to the school district to inquire about the status of Poston's employment as a bus driver but they did not return our calls.

In addition to the arrest of Poston and Crabtree, investigators arrested 60 year-old Bobby Giles that same day at a traffic stop.

"The dog got an immediate, very serious alert on the car, to which we spoke to Mr. Giles and he said ‘that's because there's a pound of marijuana in my front seat,'" Capt. Elkins described of the incident.

Capt. Elkins could not comment whether the two arrests were related.

But between the two pounds of marijuana found in the house and the car, Elkins says it's a good thing for the people in Campbell County.

"I think a few people will sleep a little better knowing that's not going to go on," Elkins said. "We know we can't get everybody but we are going to take as many of these cases as we can and shut down as many operations as we can."

Giles is charged with felony drug possession while Poston and Crabtree are charged with felony drug possession with intent to sell and drug paraphernalia. All three are out on bond.
