LAFOLLETTE (WATE) - Police are investigating after a body was found in a creek Wednesday.

The discovery was made at about 4:10 p.m. behind Woodland Estates Apartments on Claiborne Road.

The body was found submerged under two feet of water in a creek that runs near the complex.

Detectives identified the man as Steven Phillips, 40, of LaFollette.

LaFollette Police chief Jim Jeffries says he has not ruled out foul play.

"We've been looking for anything that may be evidence in this death from if there were a cell phone or wallet or anything we can find that may possibly be evidence in this death investigation," said Jeffries.

Phillips' body was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center for an autopsy.
