Meth lab investigation in Blount County leads to arrests

MARYVILLE (WATE) - An investigation into several meth labs operating in Blount County has led to the arrest of five people, including one juvenile.

Two more suspects are being sought.

In all, 16 meth labs were found, Blount County sheriff's deputies and narcotics agents say.

Four adults and a 17-year-old female were taken into custody Wednesday night. Authorities have not yet released their names.

The investigation began after the sheriff's office received a tip of possible meth activity at a mobile home on Terry Way in Maryville.

When deputies went to the residence to investigate, two people fled on foot. They were tracked down by a sheriff's office K-9 team.

Fifteen "one pot" meth labs were found, investigators say. A sixteenth alleged meth lab was found in a nearby vacant trailer.
