East Knox County school vandalized

STRAWBERRY PLAINS (WATE) - A Knox County school has been broken into weeks before students return to class.

The back door of the new Carter Elementary School was discovered smashed in.

Knox County Sheriff's Office deputies were on the scene Saturday night investigating the vandalism.

Officials say nothing appears to have been stolen, and that no one was found inside the building.

The three million dollar facility is the first new school in East Knox County in at least four decades.

Knox County schools are back in session August 12.
